Description for RMCMI Public Education Committee
A committee of three to four additional members shall be appointed by the Chair with one of the members appointed Chair-elect. This member will take over the chairmanship the following year if the current chair chooses not to continue. A Board Liaison will also sit on the committee. The Chair shall implement the mission statement of the Institute: "To promote Western Coal through education."
The purpose of this committee will be to research and develop educational programs and/or publications for the Institute to use in the promotion of western coal to the public. The committee will work closely with Public Relations and Marketing Committee to determine the most effective way to promote the endeavors of the Public Relations Committee. All material will go to the PR Committee prior to printing. It is important that the Institute present a consistent look in all written communication to the membership and the public. A budget shall be determined and presented to the Board for approval. Any additional monies needed must go to the Board of Directors for approval.
The committee shall seek out speaking engagements and exhibits for various service clubs, associations and state meetings to present the overall picture of the industry.
The report of the Public Education Committee shall be furnished to the Executive Director no later than May 1 in a written document that will be acknowledged at the Annual Meeting and reprinted in the Post Convention Newsletter in the minutes of the Annual Meeting.
