Job Title:                    Service Technician

Reports to:                 Support Services Manager

Location:                    Various locations throughout USA

Prepared By:             Human Resources/Support Services Manager

 

I.  SUMMARY

Strata Products Worldwide (Strata) specializes in underground mine safety and communications. It ranks among the world’s largest developers and distributors of emergency refuge chambers, and is now a leading supplier of wireless communications, electronic tracking and proximity detection for underground mining.

Service Technicians to establish close working relationships with mining companies and provide professional service and technical support for Strata’s product and service offerings in order to assure complete customer satisfaction.

Will be responsible for installations and technical support of systems such as, but not limited to, Strata CommTrac Wireless Communications and Tracking, HazardAvert® and Proximity Detection Systems. They will also provide support, maintenance, inspection and repair on underground mine refuge chambers.

 

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Installs and commissions Safety Product Systems
  • Services, repairs, maintains Safety Product Systems
  • Provides professional service and technical support to Customers
  • Serves as a technical expert to Customers
  • Provides product training to Customers
  • Supports, maintains, inspects and repairs underground mine refuge chambers
  • Performs other functions and duties as needed and/or as assigned

III. QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate degree in mining engineering a plus
    • Minimum of one (1) year experience in underground coal mining
    • Valid certified underground miner certificate in PA & WV
    • Willingness to obtain and maintain a certified miner certificate in the following states: OH, KY, VA, AL
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: Word and Excel
    • Previous experience with installation, maintenance and/or troubleshooting of underground electrical systems and equipment
  • Must be able to work independently without immediate supervision

  • Must be technically oriented and have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Must be a team player and have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must have strong communication skills and ability to build solid customer relations
  • Must possess excellent planning and organizational skills, as well as being attentive to detail
  • Must have the ability to work flexible schedules, including holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed

 

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Location

    Candidate will remotely report to the Vineyard, UT office

  2. Travel Requirements

The incumbent will be required to travel within assigned region on a regular basis and limited out of region travel. Trips will likely require overnight stay away from home for one or more nights

C.  Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to lift up to 75lbs and perform general physical exertions, including walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting materials or equipment

D.  Work Environment

This job requires exposure to various environmental conditions and potential work site hazards when working and traveling to offsite customer locations
