The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) has opened the public comment period for the draft Environmental Assessment for the Collom Area Development at the Colowyo Mine. Colowyo has proposed to revise its current mining plan in order to continue development of leased coal reserves in Moffat County. The development is subject to review under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and requires the completion of an Environmental Assessment (EA). Tri-State and Colowyo are supporting Alternative B proposed in the EA.
You are also encouraged to attend one of the informational meetings sponsored by Colowyo and community leaders being held in Craig on January 27 and Meeker on February 5. More details on the meeting are available at: www.SupportNorthwestColorado.com
